In both Tanzania and Uganda you can buy USDT on Binance P2P with mobile money: open P2P, choose Buy, USDT and TZS or UGX, filter by your mobile money service, pick a seller with a long record from below the Promoted Ad, pay the exact amount to the number in the order, then tap Transferred, Notify Seller. On 6 October 2026 the best Tanzanian price from reliable sellers was within 0.3% of the dollar rate, and the Ugandan one about 1.1% above it; see the live USDT to TZS and USDT to UGX pages for now.
Binance P2P payment methods in Tanzania and Uganda
| Country | Mobile money | Banks |
|---|---|---|
| Tanzania | M-Pesa (Vodacom), Tigo Pesa, Airtel Money | CRDB, NMB |
| Uganda | Airtel Money, MTN Mobile Money | Binance also lists banks such as Equity and Stanbic |
In Tanzania the three mobile money services had the same best price on 6 October 2026 (TSh 2,634.99 to 2,635.00), while CRDB and NMB were 10 to 12 shillings dearer. Tigo Pesa now trades under the name Mixx by Yas, but Binance still lists it as Tigo Pesa. In Uganda, Airtel Money and MTN Mobile Money were within four shillings of each other.
Buying USDT with mobile money, from order to release

- Finish identity verification on Binance; P2P isn't open before that. Our Binance sign-up guide covers it. A referral code can only be added while the account is being opened, not afterwards.
- In the app, tap Add Funds, then P2P Trading (on the website, open P2P). Choose Buy, USDT, TZS or UGX, and filter by your mobile money service.
- Look below the Promoted Ad box, which is a paid placement. Pick a seller with a long record and a completion rate near 100%, whose limits fit your amount. If your amount is above an ad's maximum, split it into two orders.
- Place the order and pay the exact amount to the number shown in the order, from a line registered in your own name.
- Tap Transferred, Notify Seller only after your mobile money confirmation arrives. Tapping it before paying breaks Binance's P2P rules and can get the account suspended.
- The USDT is released to your Spot account (older guides say Funding; Binance has been moving crypto from Funding into Spot since 29 September 2026). If it isn't and you've paid, open an appeal with your confirmation message. Don't cancel: a cancelled order sends the USDT back to the seller. What to upload and what support decides are in how to appeal a Binance P2P order.
Avoiding Binance P2P scams with mobile money
Sellers with little history sometimes advertise the best prices. Our live pages ignore advertisers with fewer than 30 completed orders in 30 days or under 95% completion; in Uganda on 25 September 2026, three of the highest offers to buy USDT came from such accounts. When you sell, check the money has arrived in your own wallet before releasing: fake SMS confirmations are common.
What the Bank of Tanzania and the Bank of Uganda say about crypto
- Tanzania: the Bank of Tanzania warned against crypto in 2019. In 2026 it said research on a regulatory framework was complete and a framework is being prepared, and it approved a stablecoin sandbox pilot in May 2026. Individuals using P2P aren't licensed or protected by any Tanzanian regulator.
- Uganda: the Bank of Uganda doesn't regulate crypto and has told the institutions it supervises not to deal in it. Buying through mobile money on P2P is therefore unregulated, and a dispute can only be handled through Binance's own appeal process.
Prices can drop sharply, and without local regulation there may be nowhere to turn if something goes wrong.
