To buy USDT with Zambian kwacha (ZMW), open Binance P2P, choose Buy, USDT and ZMW, filter by Airtel Money or MTN Mobile Money, skip any Promoted Ad, and pick a seller with at least 30 completed orders and a completion rate close to 100% whose limits fit your amount. Pay the exact amount from a wallet in your own name within the time shown, usually 15 minutes, then tap Transferred, Notify Seller. How to buy USDT in Zambia with Airtel Money, step by step

- Verify your identity on Binance; P2P opens once verification is done. Our Binance sign-up guide covers it. A referral code can only be added while the account is being opened, not afterwards.
- In the app, tap Add Funds, then P2P Trading (on the website, open P2P). Choose Buy, USDT, ZMW, and filter by Airtel Money or MTN Mobile Money.
- Pick a seller with a long record, and check the ad's limits. As in the screenshot, the lowest-priced ad often takes only large orders, and accounts with few orders or a low completion rate sit among the first ads.
- Place the order and pay the exact amount to the number shown in the order, from a line registered in your own name, within the time the order gives you: 15 minutes on most Zambian ads.
- Tap Transferred, Notify Seller only after your mobile money confirmation arrives. Tapping it before paying breaks Binance's P2P rules and can get the account suspended (Binance P2P User Transaction Policy).
- The seller releases the USDT to your Spot account (older guides say Funding; Binance has been moving crypto from Funding into Spot since 29 September 2026). If it isn't released and you've paid, appeal from the order with your confirmation message rather than cancelling: a cancelled order sends the USDT back to the seller. What to upload is in how to appeal a Binance P2P order.
Choosing a seller and avoiding Binance P2P scams in Zambia
- Pay only the number in the order, in the seller's name. If a seller asks you to pay another number or another name, cancel before you pay.
- Keep the chat inside Binance. Binance says it isn't responsible for losses on trades arranged outside its platform.
- When you sell, check the balance in your Airtel Money or MTN MoMo app or menu yourself. A forwarded SMS, a screenshot or a call saying the money was sent is not a payment.
- Pay from a line in your own name. A payment from someone else's line can suspend your P2P access for at least seven days under Binance's rules.
How to withdraw from Binance to Airtel Money or MTN Mobile Money
To turn USDT into kwacha on your mobile money wallet, you sell it on Binance P2P to a buyer who pays your wallet. Choose Sell, USDT and ZMW, filter by Airtel Money or MTN Mobile Money, pick a reliable buyer, and wait. Many buyers' ads give them 45 minutes to pay. Release the USDT only when the money is in your own wallet balance.
At 12:10 UTC on 17 October 2026 the best reliable buyer paid K 20.63 per USDT for 100 USDT, more than the K 20.46 the cheapest reliable seller asked for a 100 USDT order. The two prices come from different advertisers with their own limits, payment methods and time to pay, so each ad's terms matter more than the gap between them.
Before you start: what you need
A Binance account with identity verification finished (see the sign-up guide), and an Airtel Money or MTN Mobile Money line, or a bank account, in the same name as your Binance account. Binance's rules ask buyers to pay from an account whose owner name matches their registered name on Binance.
Is crypto allowed in Zambia? What the Bank of Zambia's 2026 rules say
The Bank of Zambia's FAQ says "cryptocurrencies are not legal tender in Zambia" (Bank of Zambia FAQ). In 2026 the Bank began bringing crypto businesses under its rules:
- On 16 March 2026 it asked everyone providing virtual asset services to people in Zambia, including providers based abroad, to register with it by 27 March 2026, adding that this registration "does not constitute a license or official approval". From 30 March 2026, the banks and other institutions it oversees may not handle transactions to or from crypto providers that haven't registered (Bank of Zambia notice, 16 March 2026).
- Its Circular 05/2026 of 10 March 2026 requires banks and payment service providers to send the Bank data on the crypto and stablecoin payments they process for customers (Circular 05/2026).
- The Bank of Zambia Directives on Virtual Assets, 2026, in the Government Gazette of 18 September 2026, say a person may not operate as a virtual asset service provider without a licence (Directive 4), give providers already operating 12 months to apply (Directive 52), and have the Bank keep a register that anyone can inspect (Directive 18) (Directives on Virtual Assets, 2026). Under their definition (Directive 3), exchanging crypto and kwacha as a business for or on behalf of other people makes you such a provider.
We couldn't find Binance's registration or licence status: as of 17 October 2026 the Bank of Zambia had not published its register. You can ask the Bank at psd@boz.zm. The Securities and Exchange Commission has said it decides case by case whether a crypto product counts as a security (SEC Zambia notice). If a P2P trade goes wrong, the dispute goes through Binance's appeal process.
If something goes wrong
- You paid and the USDT wasn't released: appeal from the order and don't cancel; see the appeal guide.
- You sent money to the wrong number: contact Airtel Money or MTN MoMo customer care at once, using the contact details in their app or on their website.
- Fraud: report it at your nearest police station, or call the Zambia Police Service hotline 991 (Zambia Police Service).
Zambia USDT questions
Is Binance available in Zambia?
Zambia is not on Binance's restricted list (January 2026 version), and Binance P2P has a ZMW market with Airtel Money, MTN Mobile Money and bank transfer. The Bank of Zambia's licensing of crypto providers is still under way; see the rules above.
USDT to kwacha: Zambian or Malawian?
This guide and our live page use the Zambian kwacha (ZMW). Malawi's currency, the Malawian kwacha (MWK), has a different price, so check the currency code before you trade.
Why does Binance show ZK?
Binance writes the Zambian kwacha as ZK; the Bank of Zambia writes K. Both mean ZMW, so ZK 20.46 on Binance is K 20.46.
Why do most Airtel Money ads stop at a few thousand kwacha?
Each seller sets the largest order their ad takes, and an ad can't sell more USDT than the seller has put on it. On 17 October 2026 the ads taking only Airtel Money stopped at K 548 to K 9,069. For a bigger order, look for an ad that also takes MTN Mobile Money or bank transfer.
